Earlier on Wednesday, Formula 1 team McLaren announced that it had agreed on a multi-year partnership with tech giant Google.
Technology companies and motorsport teams seem to work well together as they have common goals due to futuristic visions. The latest partnership between these tech-savvy giants has seen Formula 1 team McLaren tie-up with Google.
The newly-formed partnership will see Google form ties with the McLaren F1 team and the McLaren MX Extreme E team as well. Google has also offered to supply its Android products and Chrome technology for the team during practice sessions and race weekends.
The high-tech equipment will be 5-G powered, allowing McLaren the best and quickest way to collaborate and store information.
The Woking-based F1 team will now have Google as its primary sponsor for 2022. As part of the deal, the 2022 McLaren car will now feature the Android logo on the engine cover while the wheels will of the car flaunt the Chrome logo.
McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo will also have the logo’s on their race outfits and helmets during race weekends. McLaren MX Extreme E team stars Emma Gilmour and Tanner Foust will also follow suit.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown revealed that his team will now be better supported to focus on driving performance with the aid of Google. Last season, McLaren finished in fourth place in the Constructors’ standings, behind rivals Ferrari.
Daniel Ricciardo got the team its first win in nine years at Monza, while Lando Norris made it a 1-2 finish for the English side. McLaren will now be hoping to build on their impressive term last year and look to topple the current dominant teams that finished above them.
