Mercedes F1 team have revealed the first look of their new W14 car for the 2023 season

Mercedes have finally revealed the livery of their new W-14 car and it looks stunning in the all-black avatar. The new car has undergone significant modifications from the previous W-13 version. The car will be first seen in action during pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit from February 23-25, followed by the opening round of 2023 a week later.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is confident that the new car will help the team achieve desired results. The Mercedes boss stated: “Our hopes and expectations are always to be capable of fighting for a World Championship. However, our competitors were very strong last year, and we are playing catch-up. Racing at the front requires resilience, teamwork, and determination. We face up to every challenge, we put the team first, and we will leave no stone unturned in the chase for every millisecond. This year, we are going all in to get back in front.”

What are the updates in Mercedes W14 from the previous version?

The W-14 is significantly different from its predecessor W-13. The W-13 was Mercedes’ first car under the new 2022 technical regulations were not quite sure how things would work out, thereby leaving a lot of room for experimentation. However, that’s not the case with the W-14 and it is much more stable in terms of design, structure and configuration.

Mercedes have kept the front part of the car similar to the likes of Ferrari and AlphaTauri. The nose of the car is attached to the main plane of the front wing. The W-14’s nose has a hole at the tip to facilitate driver cooling and pass air to keep the airflow clean. The front wing is relatively more mid-loaded than the previous version. Mercedes has opted for the push-rod option in the front and continued to use pull-rod suspension at the rear. Overall, the W-14 is significantly different from the W-13 with obvious changes visible in the colour of livery, design and structure.
