Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll will start the race from 20th spot after registering the slowest time in qualifying
Aston Martin’s woes this season have been aggravated at the ongoing Mexican Grand Prix. The team has been fined 100 euros after driver Lance Stroll was found to have exceeded the speed limit in the pitlane. The incident occurred during the third practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Saturday. The report shared by the organizers shows that Stroll exceeded the pitlane speed limit of 80 km/h by 0.1 km/h and as a result, his team has been charged a hefty fine of 100 euros.
This is the second time that Stroll has been penalised this week. Earlier, the Aston Martin driver was handed a three-place grid drop Mexican Grand Prix, along with two penalty points on his licence after a high-speed collision with Fernando Alonso at the US Grand Prix. Shortly after a Safety Car restart on Lap 22 of 56 at the Circuit of The Americas, Alonso attempted a move on Stroll along the lengthy back straight, but the pair dramatically made contact and slammed into the barriers.
After reviewing the incident, the stewards found Stroll guilty and penalised him for the same. Stroll will now start the race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez from last place. Stroll has picked up thirteen points this season and is placed 15th in the drivers’ championship.
