Lewis Hamilton is set to become only the sixth driver in F1 history to make 300 GP appearances
Lewis Hamilton is set to achieve yet another milestone in his illustrious F1 career, next week at the French GP. Hamilton will become only the sixth driver after Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Rubens Barrichello, Jenson Button, and Michael Schumacher to make 300 Grand Prix appearances. The French GP is set to take place from 22-24 July at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Lewis Hamilton started his professional Formula One career in 2007, driving for McLaren. He won his first title in 2008 with the team to become the then-youngest champion in the history of the sport. After four more seasons with McLaren, Hamilton moved to Mercedes, with whom he has won a further six titles from 2014, 2015, and 2017–2020.
The 7-time World Champion has come a long way since his debut appearance in 2007 – 15 years later, he is set to join an exclusive list of F1 drivers with 300 Grand Prix appearances.
Fans would be eagerly hoping for a positive result from Lewis Hamilton on this special occasion. A P1 finish will certainly be a cherry on the cake! Hamilton has shown significant signs of promise in the recent past – with three consecutive podium finishes in Canada, Britain, and Austria. Given his current form, one can certainly not rule out a win for the Brit in France.
Red Bull dominates the drivers’ championship standings despite a disappointing outing for Sergio Perez in Austria. Max Verstappen leads the standings with 208 points. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has overtaken Perez and now occupies second place with 170 points. Perez lies third with 151 – ahead of Carlos Sainz, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton.
In the constructors’ championship, Red Bull leads the table with 359 points, and Ferrari is significantly behind in second place with 303 points. Mercedes are further behind – they occupy third place, having earned 237 points.
