Lewis Hamilton has dug up a hilarious old tweet from 2012 and it has gone viral in no time
Lewis Hamilton has won over the internet for the day after digging up an old tweet from 2012. “More chance of lewis winning the lottery then winning a RACE with merc”, a fan tweeted out of frustration, exactly ten years back on this day. Hamilton certainly celebrated the tweet’s tenth anniversary in style and it has gone viral in no time.
This is not the first time that this particular tweet is getting such huge public attention though. Last year, the Mercedes F1 team handle themselves tagged Hamilton on the tweet, clearly in a sarcastic way. With the Singapore GP in a couple of days’ time, fans are wondering if there is a hidden message in Hamilton’s retweet or is it just banter!?
This is not the only old tweet that Hamilton dug up though. He went on a spree on Twitter taking on ones who doubted, retweeting and quoting as many tweets as he could. Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have gone on to ensure that their names go down in the F1 history books as the greatest partnership ever and undoubtedly all those who doubted have been proved wrong.
Lewis Hamilton, who holds a record in winning a race in all 15 of his F1 seasons to date and has claimed six titles for Mercedes since 2014 is yet to win a race this season and the Marina Bay could be his best chance. “I think we’ve gained a lot of strength in depth. When you winning all the time it’s a wonderful thing but you don’t gain a lot when you win”, Hamilton told journalists. He further added, “I would say Singapore should be a good track for us because it’s a high downforce circuit.”
As things stand, Red Bull continues to dominate the drivers’ championship standings. Max Verstappen leads the standings with 335 points followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who occupies second spot with 219 points while Sergio Perez lies in third spot with 210 points – ahead of George Russell, Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton.
