F1 action moves to Miami next weekend for the fifth GP of the season but Latifi and Mick Schumacher are yet to register a point in the drivers’ championship
Mick Schumacher and Nicholas Latifi would be immensely disappointed with their start to the 2022 F1 season. The Haas and the Williams driver find themselves occupying the bottom spot in the drivers’ championship after the first four races of the season. Latifi has been a part of all the four races but Schumacher missed the Saudi Arabian GP due to a crash earlier in the qualifying session in Jeddah.
Fans are divided over their opinions on the two drivers. Some fans believe Schumacher has been a bit unlucky so far and will eventually earn some points by the end of the season. While, another section of fans believe they are the weakest drivers in the grid and the results so far just reflect their ability.
“Mick still has that one mistake in every race that costs him the whole thing. Really needs to stop that. But also had bad luck in Bahrain after the start.Points have to come in Miami surely“, tweeted a fan who believes Mick Schumacher is very close to earning his first points of the season.
“I am starting to think Zhou is better than Mick. He has a point already and in Saudi and Australia he finished p11(almost another two points) and that is in a worse car than the Haas”, tweeted a fan who believes and Schumacher and Latifi are not good enough. Instead, the fans seems impressed with rookie Guanyu Zhou’s performance so far this season.
Where do things stand after the F1 Imola Grand Prix?
Despite the poor showing in Imola, Ferrari continues to stay on top of both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. Charles Leclerc leads the drivers with 86 points while a second race win of the season means Max Verstappen has reduced the gap and moved into second place with 59 points followed by his Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez in third place with 54 points.
In the constructors’ championship, Ferrari’s comfortable lead at the top has been reduced drastically by Red Bull. Ferrari leads the table with 124 points with Red Bull just behind them on 113. There is a fair amount of gap between the top 2 teams and the rest of the grid with Mercedes occupying third place having earned 77 points.
