Lewis Hamilton has always been vocal about the rights of the LGBTQ community across various platforms

Lewis Hamilton took to Instagram to express his support for the England football team and at the same time reminded everyone of LGBTQ rights, especially those in Qatar. “Don’t forget #lgbtqrights Qatar!! Let’s go England”, he wrote ahead of England’s World Cup match last night. England defeated Wales 3-0 and qualified for the knock-out stages as group topper after the convincing victory.

Hamilton has always been known to be vocal about the rights of the LGBTQ community and other social issues which he feels should be addressed. In 2020 and 2021, Lewis Hamilton wore a helmet adorned with the rainbow colors of the gay pride flag and the wording “We Stand Together” at the Qatar GP. The reason was to take a stance against the Kingdom of Qatar’s openly homophobic law, which Lewis Hamilton described as “terrifying.”

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have always advocated for LGBTQ rights

Despite the lack of LGBTQ+ representation on the current Formula One grid, many of the current Formula drivers have shown open support for the LGBTQ+ community. Two notable LGBTQ+ supports/allies recognized by Racing Pride are Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. Vettel announced his retirement this season and won’t be a part of the F1 grid in 2023, so the onus is on Hamilton to take the fight further.
