Lewis Hamilton has won seven F1 World championship titles in his illustrious career

Mercedes F1 team’s title sponsor Petronas have addressed Lewis Hamilton as an eight-time World Champion on Instagram and it has gone viral in no time. The Malaysian gas and oil company has announced an extension of its partnership with Mercedes this week, in a move that will see the two parties work together beyond 2026. Petronas has been a title sponsor of the Mercedes team since their return to Formula 1 in 2010, and they have been by the German team’s side throughout all of their 15 championship successes in the last 12 years.

Fans are wondering whether it’s an unintentional mistake or are Petronas considering Hamilton’s GP2 title win. Some fans have also pointed out that Petronas could be referring to the number of Constructors’ title championships won by the Brit. Whatever it is, no one can vouch for sure except Petronas themselves but that doesn’t certainly stop fans from speculating on social media!
