French driver Pierre Gasly was left heart-broken after his national team lost out in a nail-biting finale
Pierre Gasly was spotted at the Lusail stadium in Qatar last night as France took on Argentina in the final of the men’s football World Cup. An avid football lover, Gasly was left devastated after his national team lost out in the penalty shoot-out. However, the final was a treat to watch for everyone across the globe and at the end of the day, Gasly must be really pleased that he got to watch a thriller unfold in front of his eyes.
Earlier in the day, Gasly was seen conveying his best wishes to the national team ahead of the final. In a video shared by Alpine F1 team’s official handle on social media, Gasly and his 2023 team-mate, Esteban Ocon were seen wishing their national team luck ahead of the all-important clash. “Keep making us dream”, both drivers said. Unfortunately, their wishes were not enough to take France over the line and hand them a second consecutive World Cup title.
Does Pierre Gasly share a healthy relationship with new French team-mate Esteban Ocon?
Pierre Gasly is set to drive alongside fellow French driver Esteban Ocon at the Alpine F1 team next season. Gasly and Ocon both grew up in Normandy and being the same age, their lives and motorsport careers have been closely intertwined all the way through the junior categories. They were very close friends until their teenage years, before on-track incidents began to cast a cloud over their off-track rapport.
The relationship degraded to such a point that it began showing even on social media. Their salty relationship was evident to fans after both drivers attended the Cannes film festival and were in the same photo frame. However, when they posted the picture on Instagram, they both had each other’s figures cut out!
The good news for Alpine fans though is that things have got better between the two over time and they are looking forward to teaming up with each other. Gasly has maintained that they have always been on speaking terms throughout their time in Formula 1 – just not on anything to do with racing. It remains to be seen how things turn out in the Alpine paddock next season!
