Zhou Guanyu and Roberto Carlos met in Brazil after the former finished his race at the Brazilian GP
Alfa Romeo’s Guanyu Zhou met the Brazilian football legend in Sao Paulo after the Brazilian GP on Sunday. The Chinese driver was understandably elated after meeting the former World Cup winner. Zhou gifted his Alfa Romeo No.24 F1 jersey to Carlos as a token of appreciation.
Zhou himself took to Twitter to share a picture with Carlos. “The legend himself, @Oficial_RC3”, he wrote. Earlier, Zhou had a decent outing at the Interlagos Circuit, finishing in a commendable 12th spot. Soon after the race was completed, Zhou was quick to meet Carlos in the paddock. The Chinese star has admitted that Roberto Carlos is one of his sporting idols since childhood.
Zhou Guanyu seems to be in a great frame of mind after recently renewing his deal with Alfa Romeo. He will stay with the Alfa Romeo team till the end of 2023 – his second season with the team. The Chinese driver has had a solid debut season, contributing six points of the 52 the team has collected to put them sixth in the constructors’ championship with two races remaining. Zhou is the first full-time F1 driver from China and shares a strong relationship with team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
