“Somebody get ‘Nico’ Rosberg in the mix” – Fans react as the three bottom-placed drivers in the F1 2022 have different variations of the same name

Nyck de Vries, Nicholas Latifi and Nico Hulkenberg currently occupy the bottom three spots of the F1 2022 drivers’ championship

Well, it is quite a co-incidence that the last three drivers in the current F1 leaderboard have different variations of the same name – ‘Nyck’, ‘Nicholas’, and ‘Nico’. This interesting fact certainly didn’t escape the notice of fans on social media. Nick de Vries who has just raced on GP this season, has overtaken Latifi & Hulkenberg after a commendable showing at Monza.

Nyck De Vries had a weekend to remember at the Italian GP in Monza. Subbed in on Saturday for the sick Alex Albon at Williams, the young Dutchman not only out-qualified his teammate, he scored two points on his F1 race debut after a very impressive drive at Monza. As a result, he was also voted by fans, ‘the F1 driver of the day’.

Nyck de Vries replaced Alex Albon on the grid for the Italian Grand Prix after the Thai driver contracted appendicitis. The Dutchman, who won Formula 2 in 2019 and Formula E in 2021, is in the running to be Alex Albon’s teammate next year as there is ongoing uncertainty about the future of Nicholas Latifi. Williams are believed to be weighing up De Vries and American Formula 2 driver Logan Sargeant for the 2023 seat.
