Williams unveiled a striking blue livery for their 2022 car

Williams now owned by Dorilton Capital and previously founded by Sir Frank Williams ended 2021 on a positive note. They finished eighth in the constructor’s championship. And now with new revolutionary rules approaching in 2022, Williams showcased images of a blue livery with red touches.

The car has a look similar to that of Redbull’s. Their, team principal told, “Over its history as an iconic Formula 1 team, Williams Racing has shown great strength and sophistication.” He further continued, “The new visual identity of the 2022 car perfectly encapsulates these characteristics that the staff, drivers and fans have demonstrated time and time again.

Josh Capito’s take on the car

Team Principal Josh Capito was delighted with the car. He said, “As we move into the new era of our sport, the FW44 highlights the transition to the future, as well as acknowledging the timeless qualities that make us who we are. Last season we were thrilled and proud to make such strong advancements as a team, with a number of well-earned points-scoring results in addition to a podium.You can listen to more of his opinion by clicking here.

Nicholas Latifi also expressed that he is a big fan of the new livery. He added, “I’m a fan of the new livery. Keeping the blue was important as it’s synonymous with Williams Racing, but it’s a pattern we’ve not seen before and the fluorescent red will pop on track which I really like.

Analysing the FW44 Challenger

The new Williams FW44 Challenger comes with highly distinctive sidepods. The designs are different near the engine cover and the sidepods. The design appears to have concentrated the cooling system towards the front of the sidepod.

The pods are shorter and heavily ramped downwards than any other 2022 design. The engine cover inlet is large, suggesting that the the intercooler is through there. This has enabled a dramatically cut-back sidepod lower down.

The underbody of the car has been given a huge priority. The bottom wing element stands proud of the tip of the nose. This will help the flow to attach to the underside of the nose more cleanly, again optimizing that flow to the leading edge of the floor and the tunnel inlets.

This year Williams has taken the Mercedes gearbox and the associated hydraulics but designed and manufactured their own suspension. The FW44 looks good and is expected to perform as good as it looks.
