F1 is working on sustainable fuel for upcoming seasons
F1 has always been working on finding alternatives to find sustainable resources. It was earlier revealed that for the 2022 season F1 will move to E10 fuel which will be a mixture of 90% fossil fuel and 10% ethanol. F1 has also been working on new generation F1 engines for a sustainable future.
F1 wants to go carbon neutral by the year 2030 and are working on 100% sustainable “drop-in fuel” which will help the cause. The aim is to further spread the use of this fuel worldwide. As per the reports usage of fossil fuels in cars and other transporting ways will continue to be essential.
However, F1 wants to make an impact worldwide with their new “drop in fuel” which his said to be laboratory created using non-fossil components. It is also said that when this fuel is put in use the power of the engines will more or less remain the same. If F1 is successful in doing the same it will be huge step towards creating a sustainable future.
When will the fuel be put in use?
As mentioned earlier F1 is working to generate a new low-cost sustainable power unit by 2025. The championship wants the new engine to be powered by the “drop-in fuel”. Although there have been nothing confirmed as of yet but they will surely come up with a new engine.
The championship aims to put the new fuel in use in 2025 itself to help them go carbon neutral by 2030. If it is put in use we can expect further use of the fuel in the transporting sector as well.
