Max Verstappen is not really loved in Britain owing to his rivalry with local favourite Lewis Hamilton
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen doesn’t seem to be a big fan of the British Christmas dinner despite being associated with the UK-based team for more than seven years. In a fun session where he spoke about his favourite food, the reigning F1 World Champion suggested that he would rather have his Christmas dinner outside Britain. Verstappen doesn’t have many fans in the UK and his latest comments certainly won’t help him in that aspect.
In an interaction with JOE, Verstappen was asked what he thought about the British Christmas dinner. “British Christmas dinner would have turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, brussel sprouts, pigs in blankets, which is a small sausage like a chipolata, wrapped in bacon”, informed the interviewer, expecting a response from the Dutch driver. Verstappen replied: “I’m happy I’m not celebrating it in England then.” He had also particularly mentioned that he is not a big fan of Turkey meat.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on Twitter.
“I love car drivers talking about what food they like. Incredible viewing”, wrote a fan.
“I’m sorry, I won’t take culinary advice from the land of the chocolate sprinkles.”, trolled a fan.
“That’s okay as Britain ain’t a fan of him”, read a tweet.
“Max is fine, he likes a laugh and nothing wrong with that. Even as Brit I have no issue with him. As for Michael Mason however, let’s not go there”, tweeted another fan.
Another fan wrote: “You put vinegar on your fries. Culture shock if you thought fries are the least different food you’d encounter @Max33Verstappen.”
