Toto Wolff explains Lewis Hamilton being silent ever since Abu Dhabi GP
Lewis Hamilton has kept silent ever since the controversial ending to the Abu Dhabi GP 2021 which cost him his eighth world title. His silence has raised a lot of question marks surrounding his future in Formula One. With the new season just about three months away everyone is left wondering what is next for Hamilton. Mercedes AMG boss Toto Wolff recently cleared the air made talked about the Brit’s silence over the past month.
Toto Wolff said (h/t: motorsport total):
“He was winning the world championship until the last lap, and then everything is taken away from you from one second. Of course, you lose faith because you can’t understand what has just happened. The silence is there, of course, because he simply lacks words as well. Lewis was in the office with me and everyone else involved, and we were also in constant contact over those days.”
It was certainly a big shock for the Mercedes AMG team and especially Hamilton to have their season end like this. After leading the race for the majority part, a controversial decision cost Hamilton to win his eighth world championship as mentioned earlier.
Will Lewis Hamilton return to F1 next season?
There has been a lot of speculation about Hamilton and how he could retire from the sport having lost his trust. However, the Brit will not look to end his glorious decision over a controversial decision. Although nothing has been confirmed about his future in the F1, fans would certainly like to see him return to the track next season.
