Mick Schumacher will start Sunday’s race from 12th position after an impressive drive during the Sprint
Mick Schumacher put up an impressive display at the Interlagos Circuit during last night’s Sprint session. The Haas driver started Sprint from the 20th spot but made up a commendable eight places in 24 laps to eventually finish 12th. Schumacher’s commendable show comes after weeks of speculation about his future in Formula One.
As per reports, Nico Hulkenberg is set to make a full-time comeback to Formula one with Haas in 2023. This implies that Schumacher could be the one getting the sack and Schumacher would partner with Kevin Magnussen on the grid next season. Hulkenberg hasn’t driven as a full-time driver in F1 since 2019 and it would be interesting to see if he is eventually confirmed as Haas’ second driver.
Haas is currently weighing up its driver options for the second seat in 2023, with it believed to be a straight call between retaining Mick Schumacher or going for the more experienced Hulkenberg. Hulkenberg has driven in F1 this season as well when he was called up by Aston Martin to fill in for the unwell Sebastian Vettel at Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The speculations of Hulkenberg joining Haas gained momentum after Aston Martin signed Stoffel Vandoorne as a reserve driver for 2023.
