The United States GP is scheduled to take place from October 21 to October – let us take a look at who has the most wins at Circuit of the Americas
F1 action resumes this weekend at the US Grand Prix after a week-long break. The US GP, initially known as the American Grand Prize was first held way back in 1908. The Grand Prix later became a part of the F1 World Championship and to date has been held 50 times. Since 2012, it has been held every year at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, barring the 2020 season when it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the US Grand Prix with a record six wins to his name. Ferrari are the most successful constructors, having registered ten wins in this GP. Charles Leclerc’s lap timing of 1:36.169, while driving a Ferrari SF90 in the 2019 US Grand Prix is the official race lap record at this GP.
When it comes to the current grid of drivers, Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen have won this GP once each barring Hamilton. Hamilton has absolutely dominated the US GP, winning it five times in the last decade. However, the last time it was held, in 2021, Verstappen stood on top of the podium.
Where do things stand ahead of the US Grand Prix?
Red Bull continues to dominate the drivers’ championship standings after Max Verstappen registered a dominating win in the rain-curtailed Japanese GP. With the win in Japan, Verstappen has already secured his second World Championship title and leads the standings with 366 points followed by team-mate Sergio Perez, who occupies the second spot with 253 points while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc lies in the third spot with 252 points – ahead of George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Lewis Hamilton.
In the constructors’ championship, Red Bull lead the table and are miles ahead of the chasing pack with 619 points. Ferrari are significantly behind in second place with 454 points. Mercedes are further behind – they occupy third place, having earned 387 points.
