Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will team up at Alpine F1 team from the 2023 Formula One season
French drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will root for their national team as France takes on Argentina in the FIFA Men’s World Cup final in Qatar tonight. The reigning champions, France are gunning for their second consecutive World Cup title and their third overall. All the spotlight will be on France’s Kylian Mbappe and Argentina’s Lionel Messi as both teams battle it out tonight at the Lusail stadium.
In a video shared by Alpine F1 team’s official handle on social media, both drivers are seen wishing their national team luck ahead of the all-important clash. “Keep making us dream”, both drivers said – it would be interesting to see if their wish is fulfilled later tonight. Ocon and Gasly will team up next season for Alpine, giving the team an all-French outlook.
Is Gasly and Ocon’s relationship getting better with time?
Gasly and Ocon both grew up in Normandy and being the same age, their lives and motorsport careers have been closely intertwined all the way through the junior categories. They were very close friends until their teenage years, before on-track incidents began to cast a cloud over their off-track rapport.
The relationship degraded to such a point that it began showing even on social media. Their salty relationship was clear to fans after both drivers attended the Cannes film festival and were in the same photo frame. However, when they posted the picture on Instagram, they both had each other’s figures cut out!
On a positive note though, things have got better between the two over time and they are looking forward to teaming up with each other. Gasly has maintained that they have always been on speaking terms throughout their time in Formula 1 – just not on anything to do with racing. It remains to be seen how things turn out in the Alpine paddock next season!
