Watch: George Russell predicts England to win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar

Published by

British F1 racing driver George Russell is an avid watcher of football and supports Wolverhampton Wanderers – he has predicted England to go all the way in the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Mercedes man George Russell believes that England can go all the way and win the World Cup in Qatar. The English men’s national football team have been in sublime touch and won their Round of 16 match against Senegal comfortably with a 3-0 scoreline after topping the group stages, earlier in the tournament. The Three Lions are now set to face defending champions France in a challenging Quarter-Finals clash.

Russell seems to be confident that England have the potential to win only the second football World Cup in their history. When asked about his team’s chances, Russell said: “I see no reason why we can’t go all the way. I mean, they have been playing really well and obviously these World Cup games, when it’s a one-match knockout, it’s so so difficult but I believe in them.”

Fans react to George Russell’s prediction of England winning the World Cup

Let us take a look at some of the reactions to Russell’s statement from fans on Twitter.

“Not if FIFA remain as corrupt as the FIA in pre determining their preferred winner! The first half penalty decision for Brazil against S Korea was scandalous in not being VAR checked and ruled out”, wrote a fan.

“George will say whatever is necessary to be knighted someday”, joked another fan.
