Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton’s number one mechanic, Nathan Divey will join Ferrari in 2023

Lewis Hamilton is known for making things special for people around him and it was visible once again in Abu Dhabi. Hamilton gave an epic send-off to his no.1 mechanic, Nathan Divey, who is set to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari next season. The seven-time World Champion took Nathan for a crazy hot lap around the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The thrilling video was shared by Mercedes F1 team’s official handle on Twitter and it went viral in no time. Nathan appeared to completely enjoy the ride and at the same time, the nervousness was visible in his eyes. Reactions poured in from fans on Twitter who seem to have equally enjoyed the unforgettable hot lap.

Ferrari F1 team are completely focused on strengthening their technical sector and have roped in Nathan Divey from Mercedes ahead of the new season. Nathan had always been an important figure in Mercedes, as he held the role of the first mechanic for Nico Rosberg and up until yesterday for Lewis Hamilton, working for the team since January 2010. Nathan stood on the podium representing the Mercedes team at Monaco 2016 and at Le Castellet 2019, races which were won by Lewis Hamilton.

Nathan Divey has been associated with F1 and motorsport for a long time and is one of the most experienced mechanics in the F1 paddock. Before joining Mercedes in 2010, Nathan was the chief mechanic at Brawn GP in 2009 and worked closely with Rubens Barrichello. He also held the role of second mechanic between 2005 and 2009 in the Honda F1 team on Jenson Button’s car.
