In a video tweeted by the Red Bull team, Sergio Perez is seen having a candid conversation with test driver Jüri Vips
Sergio Perez feels Mexican beaches are the best place to be when you are in the country. In a candid conversation with test driver Jüri Vips, Perez promises to take his team-mate to the beaches during the break following the Mexican GP. “I’ll take you to the beach in Mexico. I guarantee you a very relaxing and great time at the beach”, said Perez when Vips asks him where he would take us to in Mexico. The Estonian reveals he has been to Mexico 5 to 6 years back and would love to visit the country again. “I think we should plan something”, said Perez in response.
F1 teams are currently undergoing a break post the Bahrain test. Teams and drivers have a one-week break before the lights go out for the season opener on March 20 – the Bahrain Grand Prix. Fans loved the candid video and the tweet drew a large number of responses from Twitter users. “You guys should make a promotion day in Southeast Mexico during the days of GP. There’s a lot of fans in Merida and Cancun”, an F1 enthusiast from Mexico wrote.
Sergio Perez reveals Bahrain was more challenging than Barcelona
Perez feels Red Bull has work to do going into the Bahrain Grand Prix. Red Bull were one of the best teams in the Barcelona test but Bahrain poses a totally different set of challenges that the team and the drivers have to adapt to. The season opener is just four days away and all F1 teams have to adapt quickly to the conditions in Bahrain.
Sergio Perez explained the variety of challenges the Bahrain circuit presents to the driver and how different it is from Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona the previous testing venue. “What he had in Barcelona to what we had here, the issues are very different. The pre-season has definitely helped us – plenty of information to go through and hopefully once the season starts we will be able to implement our learnings“, said Perez.
Perez further added, “Barcelona was all about the front-end limitations for everyone, I think with the cold temperatures. And then you come to Bahrain the roughest circuit on the calendar, so automatically you have more rear bias. So yes, I think just the usual stuff, learning from the balance, from the car, aerodynamics and so on.”
Perez did have a hiccup during the Bahrain test when he spun with his car bringing an early end to his session and the Mexican will be hoping not to repeat the mistakes during the first race of the season at the same venue.
