Ross Chastain found a new fan in Fernando Alonso after pulling off an insane move in the NASCAR play-offs
Ross Chastain’s incredible move in the NASCAR playoffs has already won over the internet. Former F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso is the latest person to absolutely go ‘awww’ about it. Chastain pinned his Chevrolet against the outside wall of the Martinsville Speedway in an epic move to jump from 10th place to fifth on the final lap to give Trackhouse Racing its first championship appearance.
Alpine driver Fernando Alonso took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the insane move. “This is the best thing of 2022 in motor racing! We all did this on video games with damage disable. Never thought this could become reality”, he wrote. Even Chastain himself credited his video game playing for the dramatic move on the final lap. “Oh, played a lot of NASCAR 2005 on the GameCube while growing up. You can get away with it. I never knew if it would actually work”, he said after the incredible race.
