The seven-time F1 World champion took to social media to extend his hand of support for the team. In his first Instagram story, Hamilton wrote: “We are proud of you bro (Harry Kane), keep your head up! You all did so great, thank you for representing us all in the best way.” Hamilton then uploaded another story which read: “Let’s welcome our boys home and show them love and support! They did us proud and whilst we wanted to win, we will rise again and fight again.”

Lewis Hamilton is a die-hard football fan

Lewis Hamilton has always been a football enthusiast and has been playing the sport since the age of four. He has been a lifelong Arsenal fan and idolises the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires. Besides Arsenal, Hamilton interestingly also has a soft corner for their rivals Chelsea.

In an earlier interview, Hamilton had revealed his interesting reason for supporting Arsenal. He said: “I really wanted to fit in – I was the only kid of colour there but I know that the kids all supported someone different – one was Tottenham, one was Man Utd. I remember switching between these teams when I was younger and getting home and my sister punching me several times in the arm, beating me and saying ‘you have to support Arsenal’, so I remember at five or six years old that I became a supporter of Arsenal.”
