F1’s only Thai driver, Alex Albon took to Instagram to extend his sympathies and support towards the victims of the horrific incident and condemned the incident. “My heart and prayers are with the Thai Children, teachers, and families affected in today’s nursery shooting. Terrible and shocking news”, Albon wrote on Instagram story. Albon was born in London but drives in F1 under the Thai flag and identifies himself as a Thai national. The Williams driver’s mother Kankamol is from Thailand.

Alex Albon has recently recovered from an appendicitis post-surgery complication

Last month, Alex Albon missed the Italian Grand Prix for an appendicitis issue and had undergone surgery afterward. Albon suffered unexpected post-operative anesthetic complications which led to respiratory failure, a known but uncommon complication. He was re-intubated and transferred to intensive care for support. Thankfully, he returned home soon enough and was back in action at the Singapore GP last week.

Albon was replaced by Nyck de Vries, who had a weekend to remember at the Italian GP in Monza. The young Dutchman not only out-qualified his team mate, Latifi but also scored two points on his F1 race debut after a very impressive drive at Monza. As a result, he was also voted by fans, ‘the F1 driver of the day’.
