The Alpine F1 team will be represented by Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly in the 2023 F1 season – what is football legend Zinedine Zidane’s role in the team?
The Alpine F1 team has roped in football legend Zinedine Zidane as its brand ambassador ahead of the 2023 F1 season. Alpine officially announced the association during the launch ceremony of its new A523 car. Besides Zidane, Alpine has also brought in Olympic gold-medallist Nicola Adams as the team’s mentor for the new season.
Zidane is understandably excited about the association with the France-based outfit. “I am very happy to be here today and happy to be part of the Alpine team. I had the opportunity to meet Laurent (Rossi, Alpine CEO) with the whole team for a Grand Prix”, Zidane said during his interaction with the media at the car launch ceremony. He further added: “We had a good exchange, and they had a project to give the opportunities to young people, to have their opportunities for all the young talent. I was interested in this project.”
Alpine became the final Formula One team last week to reveal their new car and livery ahead of the 2023 season. Alpine’s new car the A523 will be seen in action in two different liveries during the course of the upcoming season. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will have their hands on the new car later this month during the pre-season testing in Bahrain before the season gets underway in March.
While most teams prefer having a single livery for the whole season, Alpine has gone ahead and unveiled two different liveries for particular reasons. It will feature the pink livery of sponsor BWT for the first three races of the year – Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia before switching to the dominant blue colour scheme of the Alpine car company. BWT is an Austrian company which manufactures water treatment systems and they have been Alpine’s primary sponsor for a number of seasons now. The launch ceremony of Alpine’s new car and liveries also featured their all new driver line-up comprising the French duo of Ocon and Gasly.
