Lewis Hamilton has failed to win a single race this season in Formula One
Lewis Hamilton’s present streak of 12 races without a win is the longest winless streak of his career. He equaled his longest winless streak in Formula One of 10 races without a win, after he finished third in the Canadian Grand Prix. However, after the Austrian GP, the streak has increased to 12 races.
His previous longest winless streak of 10 races without a win came on three other occasions – once in 2009 and twice in 2013. For a driver who has won 34.7% of his race starts, even four without a victory lowers his overall win ratio – which in itself is staggering.
In a Mercedes which has faltered at the start of Formula 1’s new era, the seven-time World Champion admitted he has played the guinea pig role for the team’s many experiments as they search for a way back to the head of the field. Despite finding form off late and registering three consecutive podium finishes, Hamilton would certainly be desperate to end this unwanted streak and register a win in France.
Hamilton currently finds himself in sixth place with 109 points on the F1 drivers’ championship leaderboard ahead of the French Grand Prix next weekend.
Where do things stand ahead of the French GP?
Red Bull dominates the drivers’ championship standings despite a disappointing outing for Sergio Perez in Austria. Max Verstappen leads the standings with 208 points. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has overtaken Perez and now occupies second place with 170 points. Perez lies third with 151 – ahead of Carlos Sainz, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton.
