The 2023 F1 season has got off to a sensational start and we are now all set for a resumption of action following a 14-day gap. F1 teams will head out to Canada for the Canadian Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from 16th June to 18th June. The Canadian GP will take place at the iconic Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Let us take a look at the most successful Constructors’ in the illustrious history of the Canadian GP.
Ferrari holds the record for the most number of wins (14) among constructors. McLaren (13) are a close second while Williams occupies the third spot with 7 race wins.
When it comes to drivers, the record of the most wins at the Canadian Grand Prix is jointly held by two all-time legends of the sport – Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. Schumacher and Hamilton have 7 race wins in Montreal. The official lap record for the current Grand Prix circuit layout is 1:13.078, set by Valtteri Bottas while driving for Mercedes at the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix.
How does the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championship look like ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix?
Red Bull continues to dominate the drivers’ championship standings following another top of the podium finish for Max Verstappen in Barcelona.
They have made a fantastic start to the season and earlier recorded 1-2 finishes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami and Azerbaijan besides top-of-the-podium finishes in Australia and Monaco. Verstappen leads the standings with 170 points followed by his team-mate Sergio Perez, who occupies the second spot with 117 points. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso lies in the third spot with 99 points – ahead of Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Carlos Sainz.
In the constructors’ championship, the picture is no different. Defending champions Red Bull are miles ahead of the pack having accumulated 287 points. Mercedes are significantly behind in second place, having earned 152 points from seven races so far. Aston Martin are placed third in the leaderboard with 134 points in their kitty – a whopping 153 points behind the leaders.
