With F1 action set to resume soon, let us look at how teams fare in terms of DNF so far this season
Formula 1 action doesn’t resume until the Singapore Grand Prix next week. Meanwhile, let us look at how the teams have fared so far this season in terms of DNF. As most of you already know, in Formula 1, did not finish (DNF) denotes a result of a participant who does not finish a race, because of a mechanical failure, injury or involvement in an accident.
Alfa Romeo are on top of this not-so-wanted list with 9 DNFs – they clearly haven’t quite got things right so far this season. Ferrari are joint-second with 7 DNFs – that might surprise you but yeah despite the good results in between, the Scuderia have struggled with technical failures. Mercedes have by far been the best performing team for avoiding DNFs – they have only two. The current Constructors’ championship leaders, Red Bull have 5 DNFs so far this season.
Where do things currently stand in F1 ahead of next week’s Singapore Grand Prix?
Red Bull continue to dominate the drivers’ championship standings after Verstappen secured his fifth consecutive race win. Max Verstappen leads the standings with 335 points followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who occupies second spot with 219 points while Sergio Perez lies in a third spot with 210 points – ahead of George Russell, Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton.
In the constructors’ championship, Red Bull lead the table and are miles ahead of the chasing pack with 545 points. Ferrari are significantly behind in second place with 406 points. Mercedes are further behind – they occupy third place, having earned 371 points.
