Here’s everything you need to know about the longest ever circuit in F1 history

In its illustrious history, the F1 World Championship has taken place in numerous circuits across the globe. While all F1 venues are special and unique in their way, some circuits do get into the history books for various reasons. For this very reason, the Pescara circuit in Italy is a part of F1 folklore despite hosting just one F1 World Championship race. It happens to be the longest circuit ever to host a Formula One Grand Prix.

Pescara Circuit

The 25.801 km long Pescara circuit hosted the Pescara Grand Prix in 1957. Pescara was revered as a fantastic driver’s circuit because of its sheer length, it was extremely dangerous and unforgiving. In 1957, the Pescara Grand Prix, hosted at this venue, drew over 200,000 spectators. Till date, it remains the longest circuit in terms of lap distance ever to stage a Formula One Grand Prix.

The last motorsport race at this circuit was hosted way back in 1961. Following that race, the circuit has been permanently retired as a racing venue as it was impossible for the organizers to guarantee the safety of drivers and spectators.
