F1 action moves on from Mexico to Brazil this weekend for the Brazilian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace. The 50th edition of this Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from November 11 -13 and also involves the final Sprint race of the season. The drivers’ and Constructors’ titles have already been decided but there’s still a lot at stake as we head out to Brazil!
McLaren are the most successful constructors, having registered twelve wins in this GP. Meanwhile, Alain Prost is the most successful driver in the history of the Brazilian Grand Prix, having won the race a record six times. Valtteri Bottas’ lap timing of 1:10.540, while driving a Mercedes W09 in the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix is the official race lap record at this GP.
McLaren’s inaugural Brazilian GP win came way back in 1974 while their latest one dates back to 2012. Besides McLaren, Ferrari have also tasted success in Brazil, registering 11 wins to their name till date. Williams and Red Bull are next on the list with six wins each.
Red Bull continues to dominate the drivers’ championship standings after Max Verstappen registered a dominating win at the Mexican GP. Verstappen has already secured his second World championship title and leads the standings with 416 points followed by teammate Sergio Perez, who occupies the second spot with 280 points while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc lies in the third spot with 275 points – ahead of George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull has also sealed the Constructors’ championship title and are miles ahead of the chasing pack with 696 points. Ferrari are significantly behind in second place with 487 points. Mercedes are further behind – they occupy third place, having earned 447 points.
