The ITA Airways Airbus A350-941 which is named the ‘Enzo Ferrari’ is operational and still sporting a Monza 100 sticker. It is the same aircraft which was seen flying in the Italian skies above the Monza circuit in September last year. It was an integral part of Monza’s 100-year anniversary celebrations that were on display during the 2022 edition of the Grand Prix.

2022 marked the 100-year anniversary of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the Monza Circuit, home of the Italian Grand Prix since 1949 (with the exception of 1980 running) and one of the fastest race tracks there is. Built May to July 1922, the historic Formula 1 course near the city of Monza north of Milan is one of the oldest race tracks in the world being the third circuit after Brooklands and Indianapolis solely built for motor racing. There were grand celebrations at Monza during last year’s Grand Prix to celebrate the occasion.

Monza hosted its first-ever Grand Prix race on 10th September, 1922. The Italian Grand Prix is the fifth oldest national Grand Prix, after the French Grand Prix, the American Grand Prize, the Spanish Grand Prix and the Russian Grand Prix, having been held since 1921. In 2013 it became the most-held Grand Prix (the 2021 edition was the 91st). It is one of the two Grands Prix (along with the British GP) which has run as an event of the Formula One World Championship Grands Prix every season, continuously since the championship was introduced in 1950.
