Nicholas Latifi is all set to leave Williams at the end of this year and that makes us which drivers could potentially replace him at Williams. Let us find out who are the favourites to take the vacant seat at Williams in 2023.

As things stand at this moment, Nyck de Vries is one of the front-runners for the position. De Vries had a weekend to remember at the Italian GP in Monza. Subbed in on Saturday for the sick Alex Albon at Williams, the young Dutchman not only out-qualified Latifi, he also scored two points on his F1 race debut after a very impressive drive at Monza.

Nyck de Vries replaced Alex Albon on the grid for the Italian Grand Prix after the Thai driver contracted appendicitis. The Dutchman, who won Formula 2 in 2019 and Formula E in 2021, is in the running to be Alex Albon’s teammate next year as a replacement for Nicholas Latifi.

Who are the other replacement options for Latifi?

Besides de Vries, Alpine reportedly have their eyes on several drivers including former F1 drivers and F2 drivers. Logan Sargeant, Antonio Giovinazzi, Mick Schumacher and even Daniel Ricciardo are some names doing the rounds.

De Vries and Sargeant hold the top two spots on Williams’ wish list, but there are a few other options out there. After spending a year in Formula E, Ferrari-backed Antonio Giovinazzi is available and on the hunt for a return to Formula 1. Mick Schumacher’s deal with Haas expires at the end of the season and it is believed the American team are leaning towards not keeping him for a third season. Therefore, Williams could look to rope in the German. Daniel Ricciardo is a probable option too but unlikely as of now.
