Reigning F1 World Champion Max Verstappen is one of the participants at the Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans
The Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans is an e-sports automobile endurance, which is played online by several well-known professional racers. The latest edition of this event has been in the news after it was red-flagged due to a server issue. It is a coveted event in the simulation racing world and Max Verstappen is aiming to win his first title here. After the short interruption, the race did resume and Verstappen was in action, driving for Team Redline Sim.
Verstappen was quick to get a lead at the start of the race but then dropped to the second spot before the race had to be red-flagged due to a server error. The organisers have confirmed that the technical issue occurred due to a security breach. In their official statement on social media, they wrote: “Unfortunately the two servers that have been used for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual have had a suspected security breach. We are now taking the actions necessary to increase security and will aim to restart the race as soon as possible.”
Max Verstappen aims to dominate the simulation racing circuit after bossing F1 for the past two seasons
Verstappen has already tried his hand at simulation racing at the Virtual 24h Le Mans last year but couldn’t achieve a noteworthy result. He is now looking to come back strong and dominate the sim racing circuit like he has bossed F1 over the last few years.
Two-time F1 champion Verstappen and Red Bull have been at their very best in the last few years and it has come at the expense of top teams like Ferrari and Mercedes. If we take a look at statistics, we would see that Verstappen has got more wins in the last two years (25) than his closest rival Ferrari in the last ten years (23). This is an astounding achievement for Verstappen and establishes his dominance in the F1 circuit. Red Bull and Verstappen’s dominance was pretty evident this season as well as both cruised to the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championship titles respectively without much of a challenge from their nearest rivals.
The recently concluded F1 2022 season was also completely dominated by the Red Bull driver, winning his second consecutive F1 World championship. He notched a record 15 Grand Prix victories in 2022 and also the most Driver of the Day awards. The Dutchman even won the driver of the day award five times in 2022, courtesy of early-season successes in Imola and Miami and later in Hungary, Belgium and the Netherlands.
