Camping F1 has ceased trading ahead of next month’s F1 British GP – here’s everything you need to know
Camping F1 is a popular campsite that offers extravagant camping experience to fans during F1 races at venues like Silverstone, Spa and Budapest. They provide tents, large spacious pitches, live entertainment and celebrity guest speakers, taking the F1 experience to a whole new level. However, they have ceased trading all of a sudden and put the fans in quite a fix ahead of the British Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from July 8-10.
With just a couple of weeks left before the British GP, Camping F1 seems to have gone bankrupt. They have already apologised to their customers and informed them that bookings can be made at reduced prices with another party and it applies to everyone who had prior bookings with them. However, they won’t be able to provide any refund as is usually the case with bankrupt companies.
This is certainly a headache for fans who have already made their payments and booked their slots. Besides Silverstone and Spa, the company also operated campsites near the Hungaroring in Budapest, Monza and near Monaco. It remains to be seen how long it takes for the situation to be resolved.
The British Grand Prix organisers experienced high demand for tickets for the 2023 race as soon as they were made available online. Silverstone had to temporarily suspend ticket sales for after their ticketing provider suffered from “intermittent issues” due to the high demand. A spokesperson for the circuit confirmed over 200,000 people registered for the sale, with 25,000 fans waiting in the queue within minutes after the ticket purchasing site went live.
The concerned authorities paused sales and freezed all ticket prices until all the issues were resolved. However, the sale did resume the next day and all the tickets were sold out in no time. The situation has been similar in case of campsites with all slots getting sold out very soon. However, fans will be disappointed because the experience could be possibly hindered as Camping F1 has gone bankrupt.
