F1 action moves to Australia in April after two enthralling Grands Prix in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia – when is the next F1 race?

The 2023 F1 season is well and truly underway with two enthralling races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. All the attention now shifts to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix and it promises to be bigger and better. The Australian GP is scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 2 at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne.

The Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne has been hosting the Australian GP continuously since 1996 with the exceptions of 2020 and 2021.

The race next weekend is the 26th occasion that Albert Park will host the much-awaited Australian Grand Prix. It is a motorsport street circuit around Albert Park Lake, located around three kilometres south of Central Melbourne. The circuit has an FIA grade 1 license. It spans over a total length of 5.278 kilometres with 14 turns. It has the capacity to support a crowd of 80,000 people.

Red Bull dominate the drivers’ championship standings after a fantastic start to the season with 1-2 finishes in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Max Verstappen leads the standings with 44 points followed by his team-mate Sergio Perez, who occupies the second spot with 43 points while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso lies in the third spot with 30 points – ahead of Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

In the constructors’ championship, reigning champions Red Bull lead the table with 87 points. Aston Martin are significantly behind in second place, having earned 38 points from two races so far. Mercedes also have 38 points on board and are joint-second in the standings with Aston Martin.
