The 22 year old power forward already has an NBA All Star selection to his name after being drafted in 2019, but missed the entirety of last season through an injury. However it has not slowed him down, as his goals for the upcoming season is to win the Championship.

Williamson sat down with Mallika Andrews ahead of the upcoming NBA season which will be his fourth season in the NBA. After becoming the fourth youngest player to be selected for an All Star game, the sky is the limit for Williamson – and it turns out that he thinks so too, as he underlined his goal to win the NBA Championship in the upcoming season clearly enough.

When asked by Andrews about what would constitute of a successful season in the upcoming 2022/23 season, Williamson said: “I would be lying if I told you anything less than the Championship. It’s not going to be easy in any way, and we have to take it game by game. There are going to be rough patches, but those moments will turn is into a Championship team.”

Williamson’s comments showcased his incredible motivation ahead of the season, but not everyone in the NBA community were convinced about his title credentials just yet.

What did the NBA community have to say about Williamson’s comments?

It would be fair to say that the NBA community were not convinced with Williamson’s comments considering he does not have plenty of top level experience.

Williamson will certainly hope to make it through the season without getting injured, but if he is available for the entirety of the season – the Pelicans will be a bit of a problem for the whole of the NBA to deal with.
