The legendary Novak Djokovic stormed into the round of 16 of the Astana Open after recording an easy straight sets win against Cristian Garin on Wednesday.
Novak Djokovic continued his fine form as he made light work of the Chilean No. 2. The 21-time Grand Slam champion won the match 6-1, 6-1 in just 61 minutes. Garin was outclassed by the Serbian veteran as the world No. 81 had no answers to the difficult questions thrown at him.
Djokovic hit 4 aces and had a win percentage of 81 on the first serve. Garin could only send across 1 ace and had a disappointing win percentage of just 47 on the first serve. The gap in class was quite evident as the 35-year-old extended his winning streak. He has now won his last five matches and all of them have been won in straight sets.
The former world No. 1 lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Laver Cup in straight sets but since then, he has demolished opponents with elan. Djokovic will lock horns with Botic van de Zandschulp in the round of 16 on Thursday. This will be the first meeting between the two players.
