Germany ran out easy victors against Brazil in the Fed Cup despite the matches being played in the South American nation.
The Europeans ran out 4-0 winners over their Brazilian counterparts with one game out of the five not being paid.
Brazil’s stars were lower ranked than the Germans, and the win should not have come as a surprise, however, there was a unique initiative in place which handed out free tickets.
The Fed Cup account confirmed that free tickets were handed out to all fans that donated 1kg of food.
Centro Espírita Casa de Jesus, a charity house in Balneario Camboriu, was the recipient of all the donated food.
Although the match didn’t have much for the home crowd to celebrate, the fans did their bit for the great cause.
The Fed Cup account confirmed that almost 500kg of food was donated as the free tickets were given out.
This was a great initiative by the authorities to ensure a large crowd is present while a charity is supported too.
There was another big match which helped out the Roger Federer Foundation a couple of days ago with a couple of celebrities involved.
Trevor Noah and Bill Gates took up the racquet as they teamed up with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, respectively.
Federer and Nadal also played a singles match during the Match for Africa special and it was the Swiss star that come out on top.
This was the sixth running of the vent and it raised over $3million, something that Noah confirmed via his Instagram account.
Federer hasn’t lost a match during this special, but the cause is more important than the result in these games.
