Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula played an error-filled match in the quarterfinals of the US Open. Looking at the score, it would seem that the Polish star had things under control and won the match with relative ease. However, she hit as many as 32 errors which could have cost her on another day. Pegula wasn’t far behind as she also made 29 unforced errors in the match.

There were 13 breaks of serves as well. Not the best match that fans have watched so far at Flushing Meadows. However, the 21-year-old would be happy to get through and now she is just two steps away from winning her second major title of the year.

After the match, Iga said: “It means a lot to be in the semi-finals for the first time,” said Swiatek. “I am very happy as I have worked very hard but have kept my expectations low.

“It was a really tight match. I tried to push her back but she was putting pressure on me so that’s what it went to a tiebreak.”

Iga Swiatek became the first World No. 1 to reach the semifinals of the US Open since Serena Williams in 2016. She also became the first Polish woman to reach the semifinals in the last major tournament of the year. The talented youngster is 19-2 at Grand Slam tournaments this year.
