Frances Tiafoe was spotted unintentionally mocking energy drink Red Bull at the Vienna Open
Frances Tiafoe played exceedingly well at the US Open. He made it to the semifinals at a Grand Slam event for the first time in his career. His campaign included some terrific wins but none was as special as his triumph against 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal in the round of 16.
The American youngster followed it up with another good outing in the Japan Open. He reached the finals where he lost against compatriot Taylor Fritz. Tiafoe made it to the quarterfinals in the Stockholm Open before coming to Vienna. He was expected to be a handful with the kind of form he was riding. However, the impressive Hubert Hurkacz produced a dogged display to defeat Tiafoe 7-6 (11-9), 3-6, 6-3.
During the match, a funny incident took place where Tiafoe got to his seat and took a can of Red Bull. In the video that has gone viral on social media, Tiafoe kept the can beside him and closed his eyes as if to take a power nap. Fans reacted hilariously to the video because Red Bull is an energy drink but Tiafoe reacted quite differently after putting the can down. In the video, we didn’t see Tiafoe taking a sip but fans did not take that into consideration.
