Alexander Bublik took on the third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals of the Basel Open on Friday. The Kazakhstani No. 1 is known for his serves and he let one rip against his in-form opponent in the ninth game of the second set. Bublik’s serve clocked a staggering 224 km/hr and it was difficult to spot the ball even on replays. Well, that’s a bit of an exaggeration but it was seriously quick.

Bublik might have felt that he had the point won but the world No. 9 managed to return and cramped his opponent for room. The 25-year-old eventually lost the point after making an unforced error and looked quite frustrated with the outcome. Auger-Aliassime finished the match in that very game and scripted a comfortable 6-2, 6-3 win to progress into the semifinals.

What’s next for Felix-Auger Aliassime?

Felix Auger-Aliassime won the Firenze Open and the European Open prior to his time in Basel. His good form has continued at the tournament which his idol, Roger Federer, has won on 10 occasions.
