Predicted Manchester United XI to face Valencia in the Champions League
Manchester United got back to winning ways with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils climbed to 6th in the standings and they will once again be the favourites to claim all points when they make the trip to Spain to face Valencia in their final game of the group stages of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Jose Mourinho’s men sealed qualification to the knockout stages with a scrappy 1-0 win over Swiss champions BSC Young Boys in their last game but they will be looking to keep up the momentum when they face Valencia in a dead-rubber.
Team News
According to the Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho has promised to rotate his squad for the game against Valencia as the Red Devils have already sealed their berth in the knockout stages and Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba are set to get a start.
Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling are struggling with muscular injuries and are doubtful to feature on Wednesday while Alexis Sanchez and Victor Lindelof are ruled out. Anthony Martial will be pushing for a comeback from a minor thigh injury.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Jose Mourinho
Predicted XI
1. Sergio Romero (GK)
The Argentine international might get his chance between the sticks for the dead-rubber against Valencia.
2. Diogo Dalot (RB)
The youngster has done excellently in the last two Premier League outings and Mourinho should continue to rely on him.
3. Marcos Rojo (CB)
The Argentinian did a fair job against Arsenal barring that odd bizarre moment and he should get a look in for this one.
4. Phil Jones (CB)
He has done reasonably well at the back in the recent games and Mourinho should hand him another start at the heart of the defence.
5. Ashley Young (LB)
Luke Shaw is injured so the veteran is likely to continue at left-back in the Champions League game.
6. Andreas Pereira (CM)
The Brazilian has fallen out of favour in the Premier League but is likely to get his chance in the final game of the group stages of the Champions League.
7. Marouane Fellaini (CM)
The Belgian did not feature against Fulham on Saturday which might be an indication that he will get a start in the Champions League.
8. Marcus Rashford (LW)
He has been in tremendous form in recent weeks and Mourinho should give him another start to allow him to grow in confidence.
9. Jesse Lingard (RW)
He scored against Arsenal and excelled with his creativity against Fulham so he deserves another start.
10. Paul Pogba (CAM)
Mourinho should hand the Frenchman a start in a more advanced attacking role to allow him to show what he is capable of.
