Italian outlet Ferrari were the latest team from F1 to fire up the engine for their 2020 season car.
Ferrari confirmed that several engineers and heads were present at Maranello as the power unit was run for nearly 30 seconds.
This is just the start ahead of the car launch which will take place on 11 February at the Romolo Valli Municipal Theatre in Reggio Emilia.
Several other teams have also shared their plans for their car launch with McLaren also firing up their engines recently.
Ferrari are one of the top teams in Formula One but their 2019 season was a big let down. The team finished second in the constructor’s championship but none of their drivers were even close to Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull also beat the pair of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel in the driver’s standings.
The Ferrari SF90 should have been a real contender for the Mercedes cars, but it always lacked something during the entire season.
They did clean up their act during the second half as Ferrari won three races but the Scuderia also gave away several races due to poor strategy and mistakes from the drivers.
Leclerc should have won more than the two races as his engine gave away in Bahrain. Vettel also made several uncharacteristic mistakes which saw him lose the Canadian Grand Prix due to a penalty.
There is still some way before the first test takes place where the true potential of the cars can be discussed.
Last season, Mercedes sandbagged a bit during testing and the free practice sessions but the Germans had the best car by miles.
Ferrari have a great engine but they need to get the package right overall. Experience will also be key for Leclerc as the Monegasque took the fight to Mercedes but was guilty of making several errors.
