Predicted Liverpool XI to face Manchester City in the Premier League
Liverpool claimed all three points with an emphatic 5-1 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday and the Reds will face a tough test against Manchester City on Thursday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently 7 points clear of the Citizens at the top of the table and Thursday’s top of the table clash might well be a potential title decider.
Both the teams played out a goalless draw the last time they met but the onus will be on Pep Guardiola’s men to enforce a result this time to make up lost ground.
Team News
Joel Matip (shoulder), Joe Gomez (ankle) and Dominic Solanke (groin) are all ruled out for the mid-week clash while James Milner is doubtful to play a part due to a thigh injury. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a long-term absentee with a torn cruciate ligament.
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
Formation: 4-3-3
Predicted XI
1. Alisson (GK)
The Brazilian didn’t have too much to do against Arsenal but has been a reliable presence between the sticks this season.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)
He has had a good season so far and Liverpool will need him to continue his good work.
3. Dejan Lovren (CB)
The Croatian did quite well at the heart of the defence against the Gunners and he is likely to continue in the absence of Gomez and Matip.
4. Virgil van Dijk (CB)
The Dutchman continues to be a rock at the back for Liverpool and a lot will depend on how he deals with Sergio Aguero on Thursday.
5. Andrew Robertson (LB)
The Scotsman has contributed equally to both attack and defence and is likely to play a very important role against City.
6. Fabinho (CM)
The Brazilian has taken his game to a new level with his passing, distribution and tackling in the last couple of months and has established himself as a regular in Klopp’s system.
7. Georginio Wijnaldum (RCM)
The Dutchman has been one of the pivots of Liverpool’s midfield this season and has caught the eye with his consistently impressive displays.
8. Naby Keita (LCM)
He didn’t start the last game which means that he is likely to get a start for this one.
9. Mohamed Salah (RW)
The Egyptian has been in scintillating form in recent weeks and Liverpool will once again bank on him to deliver the goods.

10. Sadio Mane (LW)
He will be high on confidence after scoring in the last game and will once again play a key role for the Reds up front.
11. Roberto Firmino (ST)
All eyes will be on the Brazilian after his hat-trick in the last game and City will need to be wary of the threat that he brings into the attack.
