Predicted Sheffield United line-up to face Rotherham in the Championship
Sheffield United will aim to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive when they host Rotherham at the Bramall Lane on Saturday.
The Blades head into this game after drawing 0-0 with Sheffield Wednesday in the Steel City derby on Monday. Currently in third, a win for Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United would see them leapfrog Leeds United into the second spot.
Rotherham, on the other hand, are in the relegation zone although they are on a six-game unbeaten run.
Team News
Jake Wright is back in training but it looks unlikely he’ll be included in the squad this weekend.
Chris Wilder has no injury concerns as such ahead of the game.
Probable Sheffield United XI
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Manager: Chris Wilder
Dean Henderson (GK)
Henderson is the Blades’ undisputed first-choice in goal and will start against Rotherham as well.
Chris Basham (RCB)
Basham has been a regular fixture in the United back three all this campaign. He is expected to keep his place in the team.
John Egan (CB)
Strong in the air and robust in the challenge, Egan has been a rock at the back for Sheffield United and is a certain starter on Saturday.
Jack O’Connell (LCB)
A ball-playing centre-half, O’Connell never hesitates to move forward and take risks with the ball. He completes the back three for the Blades.
George Baldock (RWB)
Baldock has recovered from his injury and could be given the nod ahead of Freeman at right wing-back.
Enda Stevens (LWB)
Stevens has made the left wing-back position his own with consistent displays this season. He is likely to start against Rotherham.
Paul Coutts (CM)
Wilder might look to freshen up things due to a busy run of fixtures, so Coutts could be handed a start in central midfield against a struggling Rotherham side.
John Fleck (CM)
Fleck will retain his place in the side and partner Coutts in the United engine room. His combative approach keeps the team ticking over.
Mark Duffy (CAM)
Duffy has been on the bench in the last two games but could be handed a start in his preferred no.10 role on Saturday. The Liverpool-born star will look to repay his manager’s faith against the Millers.
Scott Hogan (LS)
Hogan has played just once since joining on from Aston Villa in January. Saturday could see him get a start as Wilder aims to beat Rotherham at home.
David McGoldrick (RS)
There could be more change up front, with McGoldrick likely to be given the nod ahead of on-loan forward Gary Madine.
