Premier League Opinion: 4 Premier League Destinations for Danny Welbeck

According to a recent report by the Evening Standard, Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has triggered interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

His contract at the Emirates is set to expire at the end of next month and a multitude of the league’s top teams including Everton, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Newcastle United.

The England international is a veteran of the Premier League having played for a host of the league’s top clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Although he never really hit the massive heights that were expected of him, he did contribute with some crucial goals and assists for club and country.

The 28-year-old has 42 international caps to his name and has even scored 16 goals for England. His opportunities have been extremely limited for Arsenal this season, as he’s only managed to feature in 8 games for the Gunners all campaign. Despite this though, he did score a goal along the way and even managed to grab an assist as well.

Here are the 4 clubs who should make a move for Danny Welbeck:

Everton

Cenk Tosun was brought in by the Merseyside club in order to end the goalscoring woes but the weight of the team has now fallen onto the shoulders of young Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Danny Welbeck has the potential to be a brilliant leader and considering that he’s also got the experience, this move could work.

West Ham United

The Hammers fans seem to be sick and tired of all the drama being pulled by Marko Arnautovic every week and the purchase of a new striker must be a top priority at the London Stadium.

Proximity to the Emirates stadium could be one of the factors that attract Welbeck to what could potentially be a match made in heaven.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles have struggled in front of goal this season and despite the presence of more than 3 recognised strikers in their ranks, their dependence on Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend for goals has rocked them to the very core.

With Michu Batshuayi set to return to Chelsea as well, Palace will do well to trump the remaining clubs to secure this important signing.

Newcastle United

The Magpies will be without star man Salomon Rondon next season unless they’re able to pull off a drastic transfer for the Venezuelan striker in the coming weeks.

Unless they do so, they will need a new striker before the start of the new season and Welbeck would be an ideal candidate. Good in the air and with the ball at his feet, Welbeck’s attributes would suit Newcastle’s style of play as well.
