When Bournemouth signed David Brooks little did they know what they were getting from the former Sheffield United star. His ability on the ball combined with the way he has adjusted to the physical nature of the Premier League has had fans and even critics applauding. Barely 21, the attacking midfielder’s versatility has been key to why he’s done so well for the Cherries.
Not only that his vision and creativity are on par with some of the Premier League’s best attacking midfielders, and the youngster has time to improve even further. For Bournemouth, however, things could get complicated in the near future with Tottenham and Manchester United interested in making a move for the 21-year-old (via the Daily Mail).
However, for Manchester United, there are other options available as the Red Devils join the race for Brooks. That being said, here are three alternatives to David Brooks.
Talented, great with and without the ball, Aouar has won plaudits for his performances for Olympique Lyon over the last few seasons. A central midfielder by trade, the 20-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder or even on the wings if required, which shows his willingness and ability to sacrifice for his team.
However, with Manchester City very interested in the youngster, the Red Devils will have a fight on their hands and Olympique Lyon will have to fight to keep him. His current deal does keep the French international at the club till 2023, but given the interest from outside Ligue 1 things could change in the near future.
When he arrived at AS Roma, many expected Ante Coric to instantly replace legend Francesco Totti. However, the 21-year-old has struggled to make much of an impact as the Giallorossi take it easy with him. He’s only made 2 appearances so far in all competitions and is yet to find the back of the net or record an assist.
But despite all that, Coric still remains a talented star. Like Brooks, the 21-year-old is an attacking midfielder who excels in the final third, thanks to his vision and composure. While his passing abilities are top notch, it will only keep improving going forward, but he makes up for any mistake with his quick feet and agility.
For Manchester United, there are few players who could excel under the pressure of playing at Old Trafford. Having only just arrived at Roma, the Red Devils will have to convince the Serie A side to sell if they really want him.
At 22, there are few players who would do as well as the Hoffenheim schemer would do at Manchester United. The Premier League giants are clearly looking for a creator/second-striker and as mentioned within this price range there are few stars who could come close to Amiri.
Since making his debut a little over four years ago, Amiri has hit the stratosphere, becoming a crucial star in all of Hoffenheim’s success since then. The 23-year-old German international has blistering speed and uses it effectively, bending opponents and teams at his will. While questions do arise about whether or not he will survive the uber-physical Premier League, his agility and vision will do him good there.
However, if Manchester United are to make a move for the 23-year-old, then they need to move fast. The Sun has already reported that Arsenal and Tottenham are chasing down the German international and more than ready to make a move for Amiri.
