Chelsea Opinion: 3 realistic summer replacements for Maurizio Sarri

When Chelsea went out of their way to bring in former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri in the summer, many predicted the start of a new era at Stamford Bridge.

Although he started the season in excellent fashion, things slowly began to turn sour when they crossed the midway point of the Premier League campaign.

Despite being the last remaining unbeaten team in all of Europe’s top five leagues, Chelsea’s downfall was a complete catastrophe. They dropped silly points at home and away and were even struggling to bring their key men into the scene.

Despite boasting a wide array of attacking talents, they even found it hard to break opposition defences down.

While it was starting to get obvious that Sarri isn’t the man for the job, the Blues seemed to produce some kind of reaction.

Although not at their best, an Eden Hazard-led Chelsea side marched into the final weeks of the campaign with a great deal of confidence and as a result of this, they were able to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Since joining though, Sarri has struggled to settle into life in England. He’s already admitted that managing in Italy is a completely different ball game.

That’s probably why Calcio Mercato English are reporting that the Italian has reached an agreement with Italian giants Juventus about the possibility of taking over in Turin when next season starts.

Here are the 3 managers who could replace Sarri at Chelsea this summer:

Frank Lampard

The former Chelsea star has done an exceptional job in his first ever season in charge as manager.

Having taken over at Derby County just prior to the start of the campaign, Frank has guided to Rams all the way to the final of the Championship playoffs. Chelsea fans all over are hoping that one of their own takes over the reigns soon.

Julen Lopetegui

The former Real Madrid and Spain manager had an absolutely disastrous start to his career at the Santiago Bernebau but will be looking to bounce back instantly.

He has the right amounts of experience and quality to be able to throw his name into the hat for the Blues’ job without too much difficulty.

Gianfranco Zola

The man is a Chelsea legend and is a born-and-bred Stamford Bridge hero. Having performed impeccably as a player, the Italian’s efforts from the sidelines this season have been crucial.

He’s managed to keep the peace between the players and the manager and has even done an excellent job of motivating these Chelsea players through a couple of difficult phases this season.
