Former MMA star Al Iaquinta seems to be spending his retirement well by learning a new language on Duolingo.
Earlier on Saturday, former UFC star Al Iaquinta took to Twitter to announce that he has been learning Arabic on the popular computer program Duolingo. The 35-year-old posted a screenshot of the lessons he learned already.
By the image and caption of his tween, Iaquinta seems to be enjoying learning a new language. The ex-lightweight seemed to be ‘acing’ his lessons in Arabic, having a 98 percent accuracy on his learnings. Iaquinta also praised the program for being ‘free, fun, and effective’ for those who wish to learn a new language.
Al Iaquinta career and MMA record
During his spell in MMA, Iaquinta had a 14-7-1 record. He made his debut in the UFC in 2012 when he suffered a submission loss to Michael Chiesa. His first win in the industry came against Ryan Couture in his second fight.
He went on to challenge for the then-vacant UFC Lightweight championship in 2018 but lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov. The American then went on to beat Kevin Lee but lost his last three fights in the UFC.
His last fight came in November 2021, which was a defeat to Bobby Green, a first-round TKO. Iaquinto announced his retirement after the loss to Green, claiming that his body simply couldn’t take the workload of fighting anymore.
Currently, Iaquinta works as a licensed real estate agent. The 35-year-old earned a reported $362,000 over the course of his MMA career.
