Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be a part of the F1 until the 2026 season
The circuit in Catalunya will host the Spanish Grand Prix until the 2026 season. The deal was renewed recently. The organisation of the Spanish GP confirmed the same.
It is worth noting that Formula 1 has been held at the circuit since 1991.
This time around, the F1 has confirmed that improvements will be made to the circuit and the existing facilities at the track, ahead of the 2022 season.
Earlier this year, the race took place on the 9th of May. Lewis Hamilton came first, followed by Max Verstappen.
The race next year is expected to take place in May or June.
In the wake of this Stefano Domenicali, chief executive of Formula One, said:
“We are delighted to announce this deal with Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, I want to thank the promoter and the authorities for their enthusiasm and commitment to keeping Formula One in Barcelona, with improvements that will be made to the track and facilities, and continuing our long history together.”

F1 fans weren’t particularly pleased with the extension of the Catalunya Circuit deal. A majority of the fans hit out at the chicane which is considered to be one of the most mindless chicanes ever.
